"Miroirs De Vie" by Legend Lin Dance Theatre - Taiwan

The story of Legend Lin Dance Theatre is the story of its artistic director Lin Li-Chen. She began her dance lessons in high school. Inspired by a performance of the Paul Taylor Dance Company in Taiwan in the 1960s, she decided to pursue her career in dance.

She began very soon with her own choreographies In recent years she has concentrated on the study of popular religious rituals and clan issues.

In 1995, she was commissioned by the National Theatre to choreograph the epic dance drama 'Legend', a repertory based on popular religious rituals in Taiwan. This masterpiece of her years of contemplation has interpreted the native spirit and the classical beauty of Taiwan in a very authentic way.

The Legend Lin has won great popular and critical praise at the Festival d'Avignon 1998 and were the stars of the Biennale de la Danse in Lyon 2000.

Performance: "Miroirs de Vie"
This performance was first created in 1995 and revived in 2006 with a new appearance at the National Theatre in Taipei. In this performance Lin Li-Chen pays tribute to the earth as the sanctuary of the soul. Through propitiatory rites the human soul is purified of its ills and the mind feels free. A tribute to the rituals, the religious and profane ceremonies of Taiwan, but also to the theatre passed down from generations to generations, its melodies rooted in a remote past, its songs sung for aeon. The eternal human quest for awakening and self-consciousness.
