Legend Lin - Anthem to the Fading Flowers
“The Chinese stage has never seen a performance so vividly embodied and yet so exemplary of self-restrain, so filled with sensuality and yet so descriptive of spiritual love” - The China Times - Taiwan
The history of Legend Lin Dance Theatre is very much the story of its artistic director and choreographer M.me Lee-chen Lin.
M.me Lin founded the repertory company for the purpose of presenting large-scale performance works that reflect the spirit and culture of her native Taiwan.
Inspired by local religious rituals and ceremonial rites celebrating the rhythms of nature and our place in it, the artistry of the Legend Lin Dance Theatre blends a lush visual aesthetics with a brilliantly original and exquisitely languid choreography that gives new meaning to the phrase “poetry in motion.”
Legend Lin has won praise from critics and audiences alike.
Its Hymne aux Fleurs qui Passent (Anthem to the Fading Flowers), which pays tribute to the cycle of the seasons and the complementary principles of Yin and Yang, garnered the Prix du Public at the 9th Biennale de la Danse de Lyon in 2000 and broke attendance records at the Festival de Otoño the following year.
It was subsequently performed at the Teatro Nuovo Giovanni da Udine, the Movimentos Internationales TanzFestival in Wolfsburg, the Dresden Ballett Gala, the TanzFestival Bregenzer Frühling, the Tanzsommer Innsbruck, the Association of Performing Arts Presenters in New York, and the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City.
A remake of this beautiful performance will be presented at Theatre Chaillot in Paris in 2017 and is available for touring.
